A dear friend of mine has just finished her thesis on Positive Psychology and it's effect on and in the classroom. Throughout the journey of research, she has found some very interesting, thought provoking articles, so I thought I would share these, as well as some of my own.
"Schools are good for showing off, not learning" is a fascinating article that suggests that education is too aimed at grades and competition, and not on actual learning. Very interesting
Sir Ken Robinson's thoughts on creativity are always highly inspiring. It was he that made me want to become a teacher
Viacharacter offers character strength assessments (scientifically validated) for both youths and adults. These assessments are aimed at showing individuals what their character strengths are. Fantastic for use in social skill studies and showing students their strengths
Wellbeing Australia is a fantastic website offering resources, journals, articles and videos on promoting wellbeing in both the classroom and school community. They aim to foster relationships, resilience and responsibility - Three imperative skills for all.
Dan Haesler's blog about engagement, wellbeing and leadership in education is a great read for tips, advice and information on fostering these three important lifeskills
The Positivity Institute is a great institute for schools offering Professional Development seminars and resources for promoting Positive Psychology in classrooms and schools.
I am really passionate about promoting positivity in the classroom and teaching my students to be resilient. I hope these articles are just as helpful for you as they were for me.
