Classroom preparations so far...

I have exactly one week left before the craziness of student free day meetings start and then I'll have a mere 3 days in my classroom to prepare for my cuties. Needless to say, I have been stressing!!

I originally planned on having an owl theme for my classroom, (Yes. I am one of those people who need to have a theme and go all out :/) but then I remembered that I am totally obsessed with Harry Potter so now my theme is Owls/Harry Potter which thankfully totally works! (Thanks Hedwig!).

Now I'll admit, I'm very creative and to be honest, I think I get more enjoyment out of making things look good and exciting then my students do, but whatever. It makes me happy. But I have been going ALL out with my theme and can't wait to get into my classroom and set it all up! Here is a little sneak peek of what I've been creating, they are my supplies containers.

I have previously posted my 'Bucket Filling' bulletin board, but then I decided it wasn't practical so I've changed it to a simple 'We are Bucket Fillers' sign (Haven't added the words yet) and I'll hang my 'buckets' to the wall. I also created a morning work board so that students can see exactly what they need to achieve by the end of the week.

Just before I go, I have to share my recent bargain find. I've been looking for cheap whiteboards for my students but couldn't find anything suitable that wouldn't cost a fortune. I even considered making dry erase boards using dry erase sheets and clip boards, but they still would've cost a lot to assemble. The answer? Officeworks! I found these amazing whiteboards for only $2 each! They are two sided, with one side being lined paper. They are fantastic and so easy to store!

Being a new teacher, I have spent A LOT of money on resources and things for my classroom, and that's even after visiting second hand shops for books (which, by the way, is an excellent way to get a classroom library together!), so if anyone has some great ideas for setting up a classroom on a budget, please share!!
