This week has been huge! Not only did I graduate yesterday, but I was also offered a year contract for next year! To say I’m excited would be an understatement! Whilst I haven’t found out which grade I’ll have, being the massive control freak I am I already planning my literacy block around Daily 5 and CAFE. I am really passionate about CAFE in particular as I love reading, but seriously, how are we supposed to teach literacy in a 90 min block? University sure didn’t prepare me for this! As well as the National Curriculum, Queensland follow the C2C program which outlines the units we will teach. So my dilemma is, how do I incorporate the Daily 4 (I’m not doing Listen to Read, I’ll read to the class instead), CAFE (I realise this is incorporated into Daily 5) AND cover the C2C units and writing!! Help!!
I cannot wait til next year and any advice any teachers can offer would be very much appreciated!
