I recently stumbled upon the book 'The day the crayons quit' by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffres. What a fantastic book!! The book is written as a series of letters from crayons to their owner either complaining or complimenting him on his use of each colour in his 'colouring in' career. It is just too cute. I have read this book to Year 1, Year 2 and a Year 2/3/4 composite class, and all students loved the book. With my Year 2/3/4 class, we used the book as a basis for a creative writing project. The students wrote their own letters from a pencils' point of view and created a class book! The results, as you can see, were fantastic and the students were really engaged. I can't wait to do this lesson with other classes. Enjoy xx
